Compliance with the requirements for a certification system in accordance with DIRECTIVE (EU) 2024/825 (ECTG-Directive)

The following overview confirms that OEKO-TEX® complies with the ECGT-Directive.
The ECGT-Directive requires that a certification system meets certain requirements, including:
Independence of the system
iv) the monitoring of a trader’s compliance with the scheme’s requirements is subject to an objective procedure and is carried out by a third party whose competence and independence from both the scheme owner and the trader are based on international, Union or national standards and procedures.
The independence of a certification system is a fundamental criterion of credibility, which is intended to ensure that the conformity assessment and the resulting sustainability label are carried out and issued without any conflicts of interest.
As the scheme owner of the OEKO-TEX® standards system, OEKO-TEX Service GmbH is a legal entity separate from the testing institutes / conformity assessment bodies.
In addition, internal measures based on international, EU-wide or national standards and procedures have been consistently implemented, in particular a clear definition of chains of command and a contractually stipulated separation and limitation of the authority of the shareholders of OEKO-TEX Service GmbH. All authorised testing institutes / conformity assessment bodies are accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. This international standard certifies the independence of laboratory activities.
The criterion of independence of the system is complied with.
OEKO-TEX® complies at all times with the laws currently in force in order to provide its customers with optimum support in presenting their investment in sustainability.
